Ümit Koç
Mines Paris – PSL (Paris Sciences et Lettres)
Ümit Koç is a PhD candidate from Türkiye. He successfully graduated with honors in Hydrogeology from Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering during his undergraduate studies. Consequently, he was fortunate to obtain acceptance into the Republic of Türkiye’s scholarship program, which enabled him to pursue his master’s degree in Geosciences at the distinguished University College London (UCL), specializing in the Department of Earth Sciences.
Moreover, his master’s dissertation involved the formulation of a novel water classification technique. By utilizing the chemical composition of drip water samples collected from Gibraltar caves, he devised this innovative methodology. Additionally, his research ventured into the formation of said caves, wherein he constructed hydrogeochemical models, ultimately contributing to the development of a comprehensive theory on their origin.
Upon the completion of his studies in London, he worked as a hydrogeological engineer at the esteemed General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works in Türkiye between the years 2021 and 2023. During this period, he dedicated his expertise towards various hydrogeological endeavors. Due to his extensive background in carbonate chemistry, he found research on CO2 injection to be of great interest, leading to his current primary focus of thoroughly examining and analyzing this subject matter from multiple perspectives.
