Maria C. Ramlie
DC9-PhD: Advanced Persistent Scattered Interferometry (PSI) techniques for ground motion monitoring
Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya
Maria Carmelia Ramlie obtained her degree in Civil Engineering, with focus on Geotechnical Engineering in 2015 from Parahyangan Catholic University in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Her passion in Natural Disaster and Geological Hazard sparks due to the condition and awareness of her own country that suffers from the aftermath of natural disaster. This prompts her to pursue a higher education in Civil Engineering for Mitigation of Risk from Natural Hazard with a focus on Hydrogeological Risk. It is a joint masters’ programme of Università di Pavia and IUSS (Instituto Universitario di Studi Superiori), Pavia, Italia. Here, she was introduced into the world of remote sensing and early warning system. She graduated in 2023 with her thesis involving the study of A-DInSAR processing methods alongside an internship with CTTC (Centre Tecnologic Telecomunicaciones de Catalunya), Barcelona as part of Erasmus+ program.
She continued the program by joining CTTC officially from December 2023 as a researcher and PhD student in the Geomatics Research Unit. Her PhD is developed under the framework of SMILE MultidiSciplinary and MultIscale approach for coupLed processes induced by geo-Energies) project under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. Her research focus is the utilization of Advanced Persistent Scattered Interferometry (PSI) to develop and test a new approach to ground motion monitoring while also observing and studying the factors (such as soil moisture) that will affect the dynamic and motion of the ground during monitoring.
