To be a scientific leader today, research is no longer enough; you also need to know how to communicate. This course provides researchers with the tools to communicate science in outreach settings in an engaging but rigorous way.

 

Program

Monday, Feb 2

9-12 h

Module 1. STRATEGY: Before speaking in public, think privately. 

View presentations with fresh eyes.

Every presentation pursues three objectives: Connection, Attention, Recall.

Understand the audience’s needs.

Analyze their DNA (Attitudes, Demographics, Needs).

Inspire action in the audience: strategy and objectives.

How to intelligently define and achieve presentation objectives.

The call to action.

The change canvas: ideas, emotions, actions.

Craft the message that sells your idea.

How to distill the core idea of ​​the presentation: emotion, benefit, action.

Activate the appropriate mental frameworks.

Communicate your main ideas with original (and memorable) phrases.

Module 2. STRUCTURE: Select and Organize Your Ideas

Select your ideas to achieve a balance between reason and emotion
